You Know Those Who Taught You

But as for you, continue in what you have learned and firmly believed. You know those who taught you (2 Timothy 3:14, HCSB)

The student, Timothy, was challenged by Paul to continue. Yes we should all continue to embrace and learn. Yet Paul emphasizes something more in this passage. He emphasizes that Timothy Knew those who taught him.

Consider who Timothy knew . . . his mother, his grandmother, Paul, and other teachers of the Holy Scriptures. There was a relationship involved.

He did not just learn from the knowledge he gained
but from the relationships he observed.

Do your "students" know you, the one who is teaching them? Get to know your Bible study members this week. Pray for them, call them, visit in their home. Can you really teach someone without them knowing you and you knowing them?
