Our Identity Versus Our Task: Blog by Trevin Wax

Trevin Wax,  Managing Editor of the Gospel Project at LifeWay Christian Resources provides in-depth theological discussions on his blog, Kingdom People. Trevin is a thinker and is not afraid to tackle the tough theological discussions facing the church today. I first got to know Trevin and his wonderful wife, Corina, during a mission trip to Romania. Trevin did a great job interpreting my sermons and leadership training content.

His latest blog relates to our identity in Christ. I believe you will find it will serve as a great reminder for all of us regarding our identity versus our tasks.

We often think of “witness” as something we do (such as evangelism), rather than something we are. But in the commissioning scenes in Luke (24:44-48) and Acts (1:4-8), Jesus speaks of the disciples in terms of present reality (“you are My witnesses”) and future identity (“you will be My witnesses”).
What’s the significance of being Christ’s witnesses? Read more from Trevin on this subject
