Is Leading a Bible Study Group Ever Convenient?

Proclaim the message; persist in it whether convenient or not; rebuke, correct, and encourage with great patience and teaching.
(2 Timothy 4:2, HCSB)

I have worked with countless Bible study leaders during my years in ministry, and I have taught, and am currently teaching an ongoing Bible study group.  I have concluded, and it probably doesn't come as a great surprise to you, that it isn't always convenient to teach. It requires commitment and sacrifice.

2 Timothy 4:2 reminds me that we must proclaim and persist, even when it isn't convenient.  If we are called to teach, it is not in our nature to quit, even if (when) we are discouraged or challenged by circumstances we face.

  • We have to proclaim . . .whether convenient or not.
  • We have to balance what we teach . . . rebuke, correct, AND  encourage.
  • We have to teach . . . with great patience.

Father, remind us that teaching a Bible study group is not always convenient or easy.  Remind us that we are shaping and molding the lives of people You have entrusted to us. We have a message that is unchanging. Give us the tenacity to persistently continue to serve You in the ministry of teaching, even when it is not convenient.
