Matthew 10:2-4; Mark 3:14-19; Luke 6:13-16
11 days before Christmas, let us explore the concept of faithfulness as shown in the eleven remaining Apostles: Peter, Andrew, James, John, Matthew, Philip, Bartholomew, Thomas, Simon the Zealot, James son of Alphaeus, and Judas son of James.
These men had spent over three years watching and learning from Jesus. Yet, when Jesus was arrested all but two ran away and one of those two stated that he never knew Jesus. Most of us would have probably run away also.
Look what happened after a few days.
- First, they were renewed when Jesus visited them in the Upper Room.
- Second, they were challenged by Jesus with what is known as the Great Commission.
- Third, they were emboldened by the experience of the Holy Spirit. From that point on, it didn’t matter what happened to them. They were faithful to carry out the directions that had come from Jesus.
