Christmas Devotions Day 12 - A Baby Changes Everything

Today I am going to begin sharing with you some very special Christmas devotions. These devotions are entitled the Twelve Days of Christmas. If you sign up for our monthly newsletter you will receive the entire set of devotions in one complete document so that you can share it with others.

Many thanks to Randy Tompkins, President of Cornerstone Consultants and member of the 4:12 Network for sharing and permitting me to share these Christmas devotions with you. I hope they will serve as a daily reminder for you of the meaning of Christmas and will encourage you to be a leader who points people toward Christ during these very special days.

Day 12: A Baby Changes Everything
Twelve days before Christmas, let us explore the concept of leadership God gave us through the twelve Apostles: Peter, Andrew, James, John, Matthew, Philip, Bartholomew, Thomas, Simon the Zealot, James son of Alphaeus, Judas son of James, and Matthias.

The Apostles, with the exception of Matthias who was elected by the church to replace Judas Iscariot (Acts 1:26 - And they cast their lots, and the lot fell on Matthias. And he was numbered with the eleven apostles.), were selected and trained by Jesus. Many think the Apostles were trained to be evangelists.

While evangelism was a very important part of what the Apostles were to be about after Jesus left them, we should see the training Jesus gave them was designed to help the Apostles to be leaders. Jesus recognized that the establishment and continuation of the church He was to leave on earth would need people who could communicate, organize, teach, counsel, guide, and evangelize.

Each person who is identified as a Christian needs to see him or herself as a leader of some fashion. Some will be leaders of large groups of people. Some will be leaders of single individuals. Some will be leaders by exercising spiritual gifts. Some will be leaders in public. Some will be leaders in private.
There is one thing we must keep in mind. None of us would be leaders if a baby had not been born. A baby changes everything.
