Christmas Devotions Day 2 - Faithful Followers and a Baby

Twelve Days Before Christmas Devotions

Then Joseph, being aroused from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord commanded him and took to him his wife, and did not know her till she had brought forth her firstborn Son. Then Mary said, "Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.”
(Matthew 1:24-25; Luke 1:38)

2 days before Christmas let us explore the concept of faithful followers

Both Joseph and Mary were confronted by an angel and given guidance and instruction. Each was hesitant at first, but soon accepted what was being told them. They even followed through with what they had been told to do.

A person who is moving toward becoming a mature Christian will want to be obedient to any direction given from God. It is easy to follow direction when the activity seems reasonable and/or understandable. It is more difficult to follow when what we are being asked to do appears to be impossible or unacceptable. To blindly follow these types of directives requires a high level of faith and faithful servitude. What if you were called to go into a war-torn country as a missionary? Or how about just being asked to attempt do something for which you have received no training? Both instances would require faith.

There is one thing we must keep in mind. None of us would be a faithful follower if a baby had not been born. A baby changes everything.
