Christmas Devotions Day 6 - Miracles and a Baby

Twelve Days Before Christmas Devotions

Now there were set there six water pots of stone, according to the manner of purification of the Jews, containing twenty or thirty gallons apiece.
(John 2:6)

6 days before Christmas let us explore the concept of miracles from simple things.

John 2:6 describes Jesus’ first recorded miracle and it came about because of a request from His mother. Have you ever wondered what Mary had seen in Jesus’ childhood that caused her to make this request? This miracle was not a magnificent one. It used simple objects such as large clay pots and water.

The lesson that we need to absorb is that miracles from God do not have to be major or magnificent events. A miracle can be something as simple as changing water into wine. Changing water to wine was not meaningless, just simple. A miracle does not have to be being plucked off the deck of a sinking ship or saved from a burning building or car.

There is one thing we must keep in mind. None of us could experience simple miracles if a baby had not been born. A baby changes everything.
