LifeWay: Explore the Bible Teaching Helps - Our Messiah: Abused!

As part of fulfilling God’s plan to forgive sinners, Jesus the Messiah willingly bore abuse by others, including being betrayed, denied, and reviled. We turn our attention to the sufferings and sacrifice of Christ as we focus on chapter 18. This week's LifeWay: Explore the Bible Teaching Helps - Our Messiah: Abused! focuses on that abuse.

I have modified the study to focus on Jesus willingly and knowingly facing abuse in order to fulfill His plan of salvation. The LOOK UP and the LOOK OUT suggestions use an illustration related to United States Medal of Honor recipients to help your group understand the honor that is due Jesus for His willingness to face the abuse He experienced on our behalf.

I have also modified the TARGET to help bring focus to your application of the study:

The target is to help adults identify actions to avoid that might mirror the abuse Jesus was given and to determine ways they can honor Jesus by the way they respond to abuse for living their faith.

I pray this study will lead your group to gain a deeper understanding of how to respond to those who might challenge our faith commitment. You may choose either a Word file or a PDF file to download:
