LifeWay: Explore the Bible Teaching Helps - Our Savior: Crucified!

Jesus had stood before Jewish high priests, Pilate, and then Herod. He had been betrayed, denied, accused, mocked, beaten, slapped and then forced to carry His own cross through the streets while being humiliated by the crowds. This week's Explore the Bible Teaching Helps - Our Savior: Crucified!, focuses on John 19.

Jesus was hanging on the cross suspended between heaven and earth while the mocking continued. Pilate ordered a sign written in three languages to be attached to Jesus’ cross, proclaiming Him “King of the Jews.” Soldiers callously discussed how to divide His clothing. Yet, even this was not out of God’s control. There was a plan that had to be completed.

As I studied this week, I felt I needed to take a totally different teaching approach. I wanted to focus solely on how to guide the group to answer the TARGET question, "How has Jesus' death on the cross changed me?"

In doing so, I have broken down the study in to two segments. The first segment actually acts as a long transition from last week, ending with an emphasis on how Old Testament Scriptures were fulfilled. The second segment focuses on how the cross changed the lives of Mary, John, Joseph of Arimathea, and Nicodemus.

I hope this approach will help you focus more on how the cross changes everything for those who follow Jesus!
