Brothers, I was not able to speak to you as spiritual people but as people of the flesh, as babies in Christ. I gave you milk to drink, not solid food, because you were not yet ready for it. In fact, you are still not ready, because you are still fleshly. For since there is envy and strife, among you, are you not fleshly and living like unbelievers? (1 Corinthians 3:1-3, HCSB)
We have all seen a child "act up in church," maybe during his first visit to "big church" or the first time he is told "no" when he wants something. A flurry of strife and anger is unleashed that becomes an embarrassment to all those observing (except the perpetrator).
Can you identify the childish behavior in your group? Does it sadden you? If it does, don't give up because many will grow up and desire solid food. Don't let the "squeaky wheel always get the grease," or you will allow the babies to stunt the growth of those who desire to grow. Focus on helping the hungry learn how to eat solid food.

My heart is encouraged by the way people respond as they grow up spiritually. Yet, my heart is also grieved when I observe so many believers who claim to be mature in their faith respond as a baby would when a toy is taken away. God, help us lead our groups to be mature in the faith, never longing for milk but able to take solid food.
